We're participating in the Electronic Charity Open 2017 on Sept. 7th in Langley, BC which raises funds for the MS Society of Canada. Last year, over 100 golfers were in attendance and over $7,000 raised for Multiple Sclerosis research.

If you're part of the Vancouver electronics community - we hope to see you golfing at the event! Enigma Interconnect is proud to be sponsoring the Random Club Challenge.

Enigma Interconnect manufactures MCPCB’s for customers that require thermal conductivity which is assisted by a metal core. Ideal for use in LED technology and for high power transistors, the conductive cooling provided by MCPCB’s are an ideal production option that increase performance and product life.

The metal core of a thermal PCB can be copper, a mixture of alloys or aluminum (which is most common). Applications that generate a large amount of heat often cannot adequately be cooled using traditional methods. As a result, metal core PBC’s have become an ideal design and production option due to their conductive cooling because they can transfer heat 8-9 times faster than FR4 PCB’s.

MCPCB’s are most widely found in the latest Internet of Things (IoT) LED technologies, as they reduce the number of LEDs required to produce a specific illumination. Light emitting diodes release a great amount of heat when used in:

  • Power converters used in telecom, industrial, high voltage regulators and  power supplies
  • Street lights
  • Automotive LED applications
  • Back lighting unit applications
  • Hybrid/electric motor control applications
  • Photovoltaic applications.

Using a metal core PCB in these LED products and applications help to greatly reduce the overall heat emitted. Other applications that are ideal for MCPCB integration are solar panels and motion control applications.

If you are looking for a PCB manufacturer for MCPCB’s, Enigma Interconnect has both the capability and expertise. No project is too big or too small for our highly flexible manufacturing systems.

A reference Gerber viewer is made available by Ucamco - free of charge!

The main goal of the reference Gerber viewer is to provide an easy way to see the correct interpretation of a file. Ucamco spared no effort to display all valid Gerber files correctly. Diagnostics tools help to analyze it. It tries to engineer the intended image on an invalid file but great care was taken to issue warnings on risky errors, thus helping to detect and correct invalid files. It is positioned as an easy-to-use reference and a complement to the specification. For this reason we called it the Reference Gerber Viewer. It will help to get and keep Gerber files on the straight and narrow path of full compliance with the specification.  It is to the benefit of the whole Gerber user community to all sing from the same hymn book.

Note that this is a Gerber file viewer, not a PCB fabrication data set viewer. It does not do NC or IPC-D-356 files – as these are not Ucamco formats and it is not up to Ucamco to provide a reference viewer for these.

The Reference Gerber Viewer is kept simple and easy to learn. As a cloud-based web service there is no software to install and maintain – it is always up to date.

It is available at

The Reference Gerber Viewer offers the following benefits:

  • For developers, it provides an easy way to test their Gerber output and to answer questions about the interpretation of the specification.
  • For people who create Gerber output, it provides an easy way to check the image of the file they are about to send.
  • For people who receive Gerber files, it provides an easy way to validate their input and arbitrate in discussions about the valid interpretation of a file. Sharing the link to the reference with the file senders will avoid damaging misunderstandings.

Underplating is a risk we'll never take when manufacturing your PCB.

Why settle for a PCB with IPC Class 2 industry specifications? Enigma exceeds the baseline IPC Class 2 specifications by incorporating Class 3 copper plating thickness.

Why do we use IPC Class 3 as the Enigma Standard Spec? Our customers demand the quality and reliability that Class 3 plated PCB's incorporate and, because it is our In-House Standard for manufacturing PCB's, we are adding quality without adding to your manufacturing costs.

The Enigma Spec utilizes the higher copper plating standards required by IPC Class 3 without the added costs due to the other Class 3 inspection and testing requirements. The result is a more robust printed circuit board capable of withstanding greater thermal shock and vibration stress, It is vital that the PCB's function reliably during the assembly process and in the field. In all market sectors, particularly those with critical applications, the consequence of PCB failure can be devastating.

Underplating is simply a risk we do not take when manufacturing PCB's for our customers, and the Enigma Spec is a simple solution that gives us greater confidence and problem free peace of mind. Enigma's team always ensures that your boards can be manufactured as efficiently as possible. Learn more about our Manufacturing Guidelines and obtain a budgetary quote if it's needed.

When your PCB must work as designed for proof of concept, prototype or mission critical production requirements, you can trust Enigma to build the best PCB with your optimal return on investment in mind. It's why Enigma Interconnect's Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs are some of the lowest in Canada and are now reduced on all layer counts.

NRE's are the one-time cost to manufacture a new or revised board and often include:

  • Scanning/Digitizing
  • Artwork
  • CAM Programming
  • Test Fixtures
  • Probe Test Set-up
  • Re-Tooling

This set up fee also includes the time, materials and labour involved with plotting artwork, programming every machine and inspection equipment used to manufacture your bare PCB's.

Enigma's team always ensures that your boards can be manufactured as efficiently as possible. Learn more about our Manufacturing Guidelines and obtain a budgetary quote if it's needed.
